Nik Mills was accepted to and expelled from the prestigious Cooper Union School of Art shortly before his works were acquired for the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Musee´ de Arte et du Costume in Paris. Mills' work has also been shown at the Musee´ de Arte Moderne in Paris.

A Brief Biography:

Third generation artist Nik Mills has dedicated his life to the production of Beautiful Things. Working since grade school in various diverse media including Interior design, Fashion design, Painting, Film and Furniture, Mills has settled on Sculpture, Art Furniture and Architectural Elements. Constantly blurring the line between these media.

‘78. High School Honors in Art. Acceptance to
Cooper Union School of Art.

‘82. Expelled from Cooper Union School of Art.

‘82. Sold and donated pieces to the
Metropolitan Museum of Art for the permanent collection.

‘83. Fashion pieces collected for the permanent collection by the
Musée de la Mode et du Costume in Paris. Pieces exhibited at the “Electra” show at the Musée d’Art Moderne.

‘84-90. Designed and executed interior commercial spaces in New York including
Indochine, China Club and Canal Bar. Started producing furniture. Selling in Galleries (Civilization, Gallery 91, Gallery of Functional Art) in LA.& New York.

‘91. Moved to Colorado, shipping pieces worldwide.

‘92. Opened
Nik Mills Studio (retail Store/Studio) off Larimer Square in downtown Denver. Selling furniture and sculpture. Sculpture starts to take the leading roll. The “Eiffel Tower Stool” acquired by the Brooklyn Museum of Art for permanent collection. Pieces exhibited in the “Fashion and History: A Dialogue”, Metropolitan Museum of Art.

‘96. Left Denver for
Taos, NM. Rented an abandoned roadside gas station and produced sculpture.

‘97. Move back to civilization. Thank goodness. Piece included in the
"20th Century Design" exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Pieces exhibited once again at the “Wordrobe” exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

‘98-’05. Working on commissions in the Denver studio.

Present. Producing a series of pieces for a show September 23, 2005 at the Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder Colorado.
